Possible to build muscle with low volume and low frequency

As far as i know people either do high frequency low volume, or high volume low frequency. I used to do high frequency low volume when i was lifting. I have a shoulder injury, from about 2 or 3 years ago. It's gotten better but it can still get aggravated if i do too much with it. Is it possible...
