More muscle burns more calories?

I heard somewhere that the more muscle you have, the more calories you will naturally burn (not necessarily through exercise). So my question is: If I keep eating the same amount of calories in a surplus, say 2,400-2,500 for me, will the muscle gained factor into fat loss eventually? I am not...
