Muscle Growth Progress ?

Hey there !

I am looking for a workout plan (free) that I can use to keep improving my arms and legs.

I have been doing my own thing for a year now and I have made improvements, very nice improvements. I started as a and skinny 19yr old and now that I have gained some 'meat' I feel like I've stalled.

I am looking for Back, Shoulders, Bicep, Triceps and Leg work out plans. Ideally I'd like to hit each muscle group 2-3 a week. I do abs when I feel fit.

Thank you :)

Bodyweight bodybuilding + cycling to school will I lose muscle?

I ride to school 5 days a week max and its about 14 km a day with only a few hills and takes me about half an hour each way. I've just gotten started with bodybuilding using bodyweight only and I'm wondering if doing this amount of cycling will cause me to lose muscle. And if possible any tips on how to maximize gain with the amount of cycling I'm doing. Thanks

What prevents excess calories from turning into fat instead of muscle?

Is working out all it takes to make sure the majority of calories are converted to building muscle instead of fat?

I know excess calories are needed to build muscle, but what happens with excess calories after it’s done that? Does it metabolise into fat?

Will i lose muscle if my lifts are stalling on a cut?

I started this cut at around 184 lbs and now im 179 lbs. ive been cutting since november but i gain 2 lbs on december due to the holidays lol. So at the start of january im 182 lbs and now at 179lbs at 6’0. my lifts starting this cut are
High bar squat- 195lbs 3*5 - 205 lbs 3*5 but ive stalled on this for the past month
Bench- 155lbs. I really cant break the 160lbs mark. I always miss 2 reps at the last set
OHP- 120lbs 3*5 to 125lbs 3*5 also stalled for the last month
This 3 are the main lifts im stalling. Im doing fierce 5 novie and following it as written. Ive also done a 7 day deload back in december. I think i still have about 10-12lbs to lose. Im in the range of 19-20% bf. Im looking to go down at least 14-15%bf and reassess. Cause i have low musclr mass. Will i lose muscle if i cant increase the weights when im cutting?

Losing fat and Gaining muscle for a beginner

I have been working out for about a month and a half now. My goal is to lose fat and gain muscle, I know that it is achievable because I am a beginner that is completely new to training. Im 18 5'6 and weigh 150lbs. I train three times week Monday Wednesday Friday. I do strong lifts 5v5 and alternate between days from Workout A (Squat, military Press, Deadlift) to Workout B (Squat, bent over rows, Bench Press). I am unsure on what exercises to do after these on training days I typically do bicep work and some pushups but I feel that I am missing out on doing exercices that will help my goal of losing fat and gaining muscle. I eat clean foods but am unsure on how much I should eat and how many meals I really don't want to track calories. Like I said earlier I have been following this routine for about a month and a half and have seen very little to no results. Below are some pictures after a month and a half. By the way I know it depends on the person but how long does it normally take for a beginner in my place to see results thanks.

Losing fat without losing muscle?

I started going to the gym 3 months ago with my goal being to build muscle. So I followed all proper steps and after 3 months I saw significant increase muscle all over body. Definitely something that worked properly. Recently however I have been wanting to thin down any fat I have left, which is mostly my belly fat. Besides my belly fat, I have very little fat anywhere else. Therefore I came up with a new schedule and a eating plan and I want some professional advice on if I should change anything or if I should keep at my new plan. Every morning I drink an oatmeal milk shake with protein powder. For lunch I usually get a rotisserie style footlong from subway with a ton of veggies and no cheese or sauces. For dinner I have quinoa with plain yogurt (if I have yogurt) and some cooked chicken. Also I have a small protein shake after any cardio/gym exercises. In terms of the gym, I hit the gym every other day and I run at least 3 miles every other day. Therefore I cycle between the gym and cardio exercises. I am not necessarily trying to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. I am more trying to lose as much fat as I can without losing too much muscle. How does my plan look? Is there anything I should do with my nutrition or my gym workouts? Thanks!

BTW: I a am 6'1" male weighing 169 pounds.

Losing fat or muscle?

Okay so, I'm currently dieting, using my fitness pal app to have less calorie intake with a divide of like 35%carb 35% protein 30% fat intake, I've lost around 4kg is a short space of time(couple weeks) however I'm worried I've lost muscle rather than fat and my diet isn't actually working...I haven't been to the gym too much, 6times out of the last 14 and before that I took a month off over Christmas...am I losing fat or muscle here?

Is it really easy to loose muscle even if your lifting heavy on a cut? Supplements?

Im on a major cut.. 260 pounds currently around 30-35% Bodyfat. I want to reach 10-12% Bodyfat so I think it'll be around 165-180 pounds until I hit 10-12% Bodyfat My lean mass is 171 last time I checked. Been in the gym for 8-9 years. 6-7 Years consistently. So I want to maintain what mass I put on.

Last time I cut... I messed around with Keto/Low Carb diets and even kept my calories high and lost a decent amount of strength on my big compound movements so I'm sure I lost muscle when I lost like 60 pounds. This time Im going to keep a balanced macronutrient diet 2400 calories / 225g protein / 205g carb / 65g fat and concentrate on getting stronger with progressive overload.

Im scared if I loose a ton of strength.. Ill loose a lot of muscle? If that happens should I switch to maintenance calories for a couple of weeks? Some people say the strength will come back after a cut so IDK?.

Is their any supplements worth taking to maintain strength/muscle when I get more lean and it really starts getting hard?

Just shopping in advance : p I would appreciate any advice / tips / supplement help
Im looking for a non stim pre workout & Good tasting / easy dissolving creatine aswell please.

Newb agains, muscle specific?

So...I'm pretty sure this is a really dumb question, but here goes:

Are newb gains muscle specific?

To clarify, I just started getting in shape and starting with a cut. I've been doing full body lifts for 4 months now and about last month all my lifts stalled and I haven't been able to go past my current wall.

Now since all my lifts have stalled now, what if I start working a muscle that I haven't worked as hard yet, such as my abs. Would I be able to progress my abs? Or is it by default going to be stalled now as well?

I'm fairly certain I would still see newb gains in undeveloped muscles, but just asking as I'm curious.

Thanks.

Cutting - gaining muscle and losing fat?

Could it be that I am losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time?

I started a cut a couple of weeks ago (1500/1800 cals and maintenance is around 2200-2500 according to calculators) and have been staying at the same weight although my waist has gone down nearly an inch and I think I am looking leaner.

My background is that I have probably done around 5 months of 3x weekly lifting in my life, and recently had a 3 month break due to injury until 2 weeks ago.

I have now started lifting 6 times a week and am training legs for the first time in my life.

What do you guys reckon? I am probably around 16-18% body fat and just under 150 pounds.

Maintaining muscle while dropping fat. Please help!

Hey y'all,

So I recently decided to start preparing and enter the world of competitive physique and bodybuilding. I have a few questions concerning cutting fat, but I'm going to dedicate this forum to the most pressing (and confusing) question I have.

I am currently 6'0 tall, 205 lbs, 12.3% BF. I want to cut down to 9% BF and start a lean bulk from there. My question is really this, how can I drop fat while maintaining the muscle that I have? I have a strong amount of muscle and don't want to sacrifice the progress I've made so far. I'm eating about 2,000 calories a day (30% Carbs, 45% Protein, 25% Fat), I'm doing fasted cardio in the morning and lifting in the afternoon, I'm still lifting heavy (as I've seen a lot of info about doing that while cutting and lean bulking). If there's any more info you need to give me the best advice, I'd be happy to comply. Reason I'm asking is because I was doing chest and tris today and couldn't lift as heavy as I usually do. It could have been mental, but it could have also been diet. I'm not sure.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

KP

Can you build muscle using machines?

I’m a beginner at the gym, and for my first week so far I’ve been spending about an hour each day using just machines and some cardio every other day

I lost weight and weigh 140/5’11 and I’m trying to build muscles.

But since I’m a beginner, I’m wondering if machines build muscle? I’m planning to use weights but just want to know if I’m wasting my time.

Training each muscle group once a week?

Do you think it's enough to train each muscle group once a week?

Like let's say I go to the gym 4 times a week like this:

Mon: Chest, Triceps
Tue: Back, Biceps
Wed: Rest (cardio)
Thu: Shoulders, Abs
Fri: Legs, Abs
Sat: Rest (cardio)
Sun: Rest (cardio or just rest)

Say I really FOCUS on the muscle groups on each day. Would this be enough? And yeah many people use this kind of plan but as I've been using 3-day splits (full body twice a week) it just doesn't seem enough to hit each muscle group only once a week. Then again I might be completely wrong. What do you think?
